The waterfront and town at Funchal, Madeira.
The waterfront and town at Funchal, Madeira. The photographer is looking north from a passenger cruise ship in the anchorage showing a tug, a ketch rigged vessel, a small steam coaster and other small boats offshore. Beyond the steam coaster is the passenger landing pier at the foot of the Avenue Zarco. To the right of the pier in front of Blandys building is a tall brick-built column with a mast on top of it. Just to the right of centre is the square tower of the Jesuit College Church and on the right is the steeple of the Catedral of Nossa Senhora da Assuncao. The sky above the hills has been masked with red marker ink.
