Mohle Fort and shipping in the anchorage at Funchal, Madeira.

The Mohle Fort and shipping in the anchorage at Funchal, Madeira, from the shore just inside the Bahia da Potinha. An espada fishing boat is getting under sail in the foreground and beyond it are a number of steam, motor and sailing vessels at moorings. Out in the anchorage the Portuguese passenger/cargo liner Lima (1907), seen from just ahead of her starboard beam, is on the left. In the centre and seen from well ahead of her starboard beam is the Cunard Line passenger cruise ship Laconia (1922). To the right of centre is the Royal Navy battleship Malaya (1915). She is seen from off her starboard beam and has awnings rigged. Everything forward of her bridge is hidden by the Mohle Fort.
