Looking down a street and over rooftops to the anchorage at Funchal, Madeira.
Looking down a street and over rooftops to the anchorage at Funchal, Madeira. The photographer is looking down a steeply sloping street with a high wall and buildings on either side of it. A small group of pedestrians are struggling with a very large sack in the middle of the road. A large warehouse or factory building with a circular chimney is near the waterfront on the left and on the right is the steeple of the Catedral of Nossa Senhora da Assuncao with the clock reading 12.27. Out in the anchorage are a cargo ship with a lighter alongside and a Canadian Pacific steamships passenger cruise ship of the Mont class. The cruise ship is dressed overall and has a large number of bumboats alongside it.
