The Bahia da Potinha breakwater, Mohle Fort and the anchorage at Funchal, Madeira. The photographer is looking east from the garden of Reid's Palace Hotel showing the Mohle Fort at the end of the breakwater which has been strengthened with large concrete blocks on the south side. Out in the anchorage is the Cunard Line passenger cruise ship Laconia (1922), seen from just ahead of her starboard beam.
