The Bahia da Potinha breakwater, Mohle Fort and the anchorage at Funchal, Madeira. The photographer is looking east-by-north from Reid's Palace Hotel showing the hotel gardens in the foreground. On the beach on the left is the new private swimming pool built for the Savoy Hotel. The Mohle Fort is at the end of the Bahia da Potinha breakwater which has been strengthened with large concrete blocks on the south side. Out in the anchorage is the P. & O. passenger cruise ship Viceroy of India (1929), seen from just ahead of her starboard beam.
