The town and anchorage at Funchal, Madeira.
The town and anchorage at Funchal, Madeira. The photographer is on the lower slopes at the back of the town looking south over the rooftops showing the square tower of the Jesuit College Church on the right and the steeple of the Catedral of Nossa Senhora da Assuncao is in the centre. The clock on the steeple is reading 2.43. A Canadian Pacific Steamships passenger cruise ship of the Mont class (1921-1922), seen from abaft her starboard beam, is in the anchorage and beyond her is the Blue Funnel passenger cruise ship Patroclus (1923). The top of a tall brick-built column with a mast on top of it can be seen on the right and flying from the mast is the Canadian Pacific houseflag.
