The Bahia da Potinha breakwater, Mohle Fort and anchorage at Funchal, Madeira. The photographer is in the upper garden of Reid's Palace Hotel looking east and in the foreground are the lower garden verandah and the lift tower of the hotel. The Mohle Fort is at the end of the breakwater which has been strengthened with concrete blocks on the south side. In the anchorage are the Orient Line's passenger cruise ship Orford (1928), seen from off her starboard bow, and two other unidentified ships.
