A starboard near broadside view, taken from abaft the beam, of the Orient Line cruise ship Orion (1935) at anchor in Sognefjord at Balholm, Norway. She has an accommodation ladder rigged to the main deck aft and two small boats are alongside it. Lifeboat number 17 is out of its falls and lifeboat number 1 has been swung out and lowered to boat deck level. The Blue Peter flag is flying from the port yardarm and the Norwegian flag from the starboard yardarm on the foremast. The photographer is in a slightly elevated position on shore and wooden huts are in the left foreground. A small tree is obscuring the bow of the ship. There are patches of snow on the mountains in the background.
