At the back of the quay in the foreground is a line of cylindrical tanks on supports. The stern of a small steamship and a half sunken wooden boat are in the left foreground. With a severe list to starboard is the Italian flagged cargo steamer Araldo (1883) alongside the east quay in the corner of the harbour. The Araldo was deleted from the 1930-1931 edition of Lloyd's Register and no record has been found of her demolition and this photograph may show her in an abandoned state.
