The photographer is looking south-west-by-south from the Lower Barracca Gardens in Valletta. The Letitia (1925) is dressed overall and in the foreground is the German Deutsche Levante-Linie cargo liner Yalova (1920) with her forepart out of the picture. Beyond the Letitia is an Italian "Tirrenia" Soc. Anon. di Nav. passenger/cargo ship. Up Grand Harbour on the right are three Royal Navy London class heavy cruisers of the1st Cruiser Squadron and on the left is the bow of an Arethusa class light cruiser of the 3rd Cruiser Squadron.
