Shipping in the Grand Harbour, Malta.

Shipping in the Grand Harbour at Malta. The photographer is on the Upper Barracca looking through an archway above the Saluting Battery showing the Royal Naval Hospital at Bighi in the right background, Fort Rinella in the centre and Fort Ricasoli on the left. At moorings in Bighi Bay are the Orient Line passenger cruise ship Orontes (1929) and the Royal Navy aircraft carrier Glorious (1916), both seen from abaft their port beam. Moored stern-on to the Barriera (Quarry) Wharf on the left, and seen from abaft her starboard beam, is the Italian passenger/cargo liner Citta di Trieste (1915). Her stern is out of the picture. A vertical format negative.
