A Canadian Pacific Steamships Duchess class (1928) passenger cruise ship in the Grand Harbour, Malta.

A Canadian Pacific Steamships Duchess class (1928) passenger cruise ship at moorings in the Grand Harbour off Bighi Bay at Malta. The photographer is on the Upper Barracca looking through an archway above the Saluting Battery showing the Royal Naval Hospital at Bighi in the right background, Fort Rinella in the centre and Fort Ricasoli on the left. The ship is seen from abaft her port beam. There were three ships in this class that were used for cruising: Duchess of Atholl (1928), Duchess of Bedford (1928) and Duchess of Richmond (1928) and externally they were practically indistinguishable.
