Buildings on part of the waterfront at Fort-de-France, Martinique. The photographer is in a boat offshore showing the low sea wall with two local boats drawn up on the foreshore and stacks of fish traps on the left. The two boats are named Volonte and Durandal and the Volonte if double-ended. The Durandal has a forward projecting stem similar to a ram bow. The buildings are on the side of a steep hill and are interspersed with trees.
