The Canal Levassor in Fort-de-France, Martinique. The photographer is on a footbridge over the canal looking south-by-west towards the sea showing a steel 3-masted barque at anchor in the harbour. She has double topsail yards and double topgallants on her fore and main masts and a single royal on her mainmast. Small boats are drawn up on the banks of the canal and fishing nets are hung out to dry. Wooden buildings are on the right and an iron framed building is on the left.
