The village of Merok at the head of Geirangerfjord, More og Romsdal, Norway. The photographer is looking towards the shore from on board a passenger cruise ship, probably the Orient Line Ormonde (1917), anchored offshore. In the centre of the picture is the Geiranger Church with the Union hotel beyond it and the Geirangelva River to the right. At the water's edge to the left of centre is the Meroks Hotel with the hotel Geiranger above it.
