In the main harbour at Mitylene, Lesbos Island, Greece
In the main harbour at Mitylene, Lesbos Island, Greece. The photographer is looking north-north-east along the north-west quay showing a large number of fishing vessels berthed alongside the quay with their nets suspended from the mastheads to dry. The quayside is thronged with well dressed tourists out in the morning sunshine. The ruins of the Mitylene castle fortress are in the background. The negative is showing signs of reticulation but a scan made in May 2019 is available.
