The photographer is looking south-west from the promenade in front of Monte Carlo showing the north breakwater of Port Hercule with the leading light tower on the end asnd the district of La Condamine beyond Port Hercule. The Prince's Palace is above the medieval fortifications of Monaco Rock to the left of centre and the cathedral is on the extreme left. The rocky outcrop of Tete de Chien is in the right background.
