Port Hercule at Monaco during the 1937 Grand Prix.

Port Hercule at Monaco during the running of the 1937 Grand Prix. The photographer is looking north-north-east from near the south-west corner of the harbour showing a gas holder on the left. The Mercedes-Benz W125 Silver Arrow car number 12, driven by the Swiss driver Christian Kautz, is turning at the Gasworks Hairpin on the west side of the harbour during the 100 lap race. Kautz finished the race in 3rd position, two laps behind the winner, the German driver Manfred von Brauchitsch, who was also driving a Silver Arrow. The passenger tender La Nymphe (1916), seen from off her starboard beam, is at anchor in the harbour. The district of Monte Carlo is on the far side of the harbour and the domed and twin towered Casino de Monte Carlo is on the right. Mont Agel is in the background.
