HMS Ark Royal (1950)

No. 4 [Lower Gallery] Deck, location 4G2. The portside deck space in the vicinity of frame 57, looking forward towards bulkhead 50. The doorway in this bulkhead leads towards another deck space, while the adjacent hatchway provides access to the kit locker at 5G4. Halfway along the longitudinal bulkhead is a locker for a Neil Robertson stretcher. Adjacent to that is a cable reel with a full drum of rope and a Jacob's ladder rolled up on the deck. The doorway to the immediate right leads into the Sick Bay.

This is part of a series of photographs taken during the final stages of HMS Ark Royal's last major refit which was completed in 1970. The location references are derived from the deck plans in the latest edition of the ship's NBCD book.
