HMS Ark Royal (1950)

No. 5 [Lower Hangar] Deck. The Lower Hangar in the vicinity of frame 120, looking to port. In the centre is a ladder leading up to the door to the Hangar Control Position at 4N2-00. To the right of this is a large storage shelf with a number of stacked crates on it. At Hangar Deck level from left to right are a low pressure air point, a refuelling/defuelling point, open vents from the downtake serving 7PA0, a reel of servicing cable, the doorway leading into compartment 5N2-00, fire point no. 6 and an extandable ladder in its storage rack.

This is part of a series of photographs taken during the final stages of HMS Ark Royal's last major refit which was completed in 1970. The location references are derived from the deck plans in the latest edition of the ship's NBCD book.
