Royal Naval Air Service Seaplane 1198 (study)
Inscribed by the artist in pencil, lower right, 'White-Thompson'. The White & Thompson No. 3 tractor biplane flying boat, serial 1198, was built at Bognor Regis and completed in February 1915. She served at Dover and Calshot and was deleted from service on 24 October 1916. This fairly accurate study is for a more finished in-flight drawing (PAF1860) apparently showing the aircraft heading out over the Solent from Calshot. There is an indeterminate pencil sketch at the bottom of the present sheet, possibly unconnected with the aircraft drawing.
