A transport ship loading mules alongside a quay at Naples, Italy
A transport ship loading mules alongside a quay at Naples, Italy. The photographer is looking down on the after hold between the mainmast and the poop from the starboard side showing a mule being hoisted aboard. Wooden stalls have been erected along the side of the deck and on the poop. Carley rafts are stowed on the shrouds of the mainmast. Soldiers' kit, more mules and a four-wheeled postal trailer with 24 Regie Poste on it are on the quayside. The upperworks of steamships are in the background beyond the quayside buildings.
