The photographer is looking north-east from the poop of the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company passenger cruise ship Viceroy of India (1929) which is at anchor during a Norwegian Fjords cruise. One of the crew and two passengers are on the games deck looking to starboard at the town. One of the ore loading hoists is on the right of the picture and the steeple of the parish church is in the background to left of centre.
