A general view of part of the town of Narvik, Norway. An open grassed area is in the foreground with a line of trees on the far side. Beyond the trees is a shopping street. The building on the left is occupied by K. Nilsen and the 1st floor window is advertising Iris Cafe & Restaurant. The building in the centre is the Narviks Bokhandel and the building on the next corner is occupied by Brodr. Nilsson. All of the properties in this street are commercial or residential. The photographer took the picture during a cruise of the Norwegian fjords by the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company passenger cruise ship Viceroy of India (1929).
