HMS Ark Royal (1950)

No. 5 [Lower Hangar] Deck. The Lower Hangar in the vicinity of frame 130, looking to port. The doors on the right are the vents for the downtake serving 7PA0. On the stowage shelf at Lower Gallery deck level are some stacked crates and a number of light fittings from the hangar ceiling. At hangar deck level are fire point no. 8, stowage for hoses and an aircraft refuelling/defuelling point.

This is part of a series of photographs taken during the final stages of HMS Ark Royal's last major refit which was completed in 1970. The location references are derived from the deck plans in the latest edition of the ship's NBCD book.
