The photographer is in a motor tender from the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company passenger cruise ship Viceroy of India (1929) which is on a cruise of Norwegian fjords. On the right is the large Ofoten Meieri (dairy) building with Saltens D/S Selskabs Expedition and Vesteraalskes Ekspedition occupying the end two units and to the left of it is the smaller M.P. Bjornstad Dampskibsexpedition building. A large commercial wharf with an hand operated crane is on the left. A passenger train is standing on the embankment in the background.
