On board the Cunard White Star Line passenger cruise ship Britannic (1930) manoeuvering astern away from Pier 90 at New York. The photographer is on the port side amidships looking aft showing well-wishers at first floor level watching the ship pull away. Ticker tape is being held by passengers and well-wishers and some of it is floating in the air between the ship and the pier.
