Seascape from the 'Panaghis M. Hadoulis'

A sketch showing the brilliant effects of the sun on the sea and sky, from the deck of the 'Panaghis M. Hadoulis'. The sea is painted in bright yellow and green and flecked with blue, to indicate the underside of waves. The sky is bathed in brilliant light on the left of the sketch. There is a horizontal band of lilac to indicate cloud close to the horizon. There is darker cloud on the right. The sun's rays can be seen as lines of white light through the lemon yellow and the artist has applied different brush strokes to suggest the effect. Everett sailed in the Greek-owned steamer, 'Panaghis M. Hadoulis', from Cardiff, Wales, to Montevideo, Uruguay, and back between December 1931 and March 1932. The painting is inscribed 'PMH' verso.
