An unidentified harbour in Norway.
An unidentified harbour protected by a two-sided stone breakwater in Norway. A large number of buildings houses are densely packed from the waterfront up the slope of a low hill which is topped with dense trees. the buildings include factories, warehouses, dwellings, shops, a church and a large four storey building in the centre that is probably a school or government building. The shipping in the harbour includes motor fishing vessels and 2-masted sailing vessels. At anchor just outside the breakwater and seen from fine off her port bow, is a narrow beamed steamship with a single funnel, a full wheelhouse, a short bridgedeck and a large crowsnest on her foremast. She may be a government vessel, possibly fishery protection. The location of this place is not known but the negative is captioned "En route North Cape" and the negative number W.768 indicates that the photographer is on a cruise on board the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company cruise ship Viceroy of India (1929)..
