On board the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company passenger cruise ship Viceroy of India (1929) in Sunnylvsfjorden, off Hellesylt, Norway.
On board the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company passenger cruise ship Viceroy of India (1929) anchored in Sunnylvsfjorden off Hellesylt, Norway. The photographer is looking forward from the front of the superstructure on the starboard side showing a lascar crewman at the winch controlling the descent of the foremost motor lifeboat as it is being lowered, suspended under the cargo derrick. A number of passengers on the foredeck are watching proceedings or are looking over the rail towards the shore. The village of Hellesylt is in the background with the Grand Hotel on the right and the church beyond it. A vertical format negative that is incorrectly captioned "Oie", which is a very small settlement on Norangfjord and may have been another destination on this cruise..
