The Dom Luis I Bridge over the Douro River at Oporto, Portugal
The south end of the Dom Luis I Bridge over the Douro River at Oporto, Portugal. The photographer is on the south bank of the river looking east showing the monastery of Serra do Pilar on the right to the south of the bridge. Pedestrians, a single deck bus and a motor vehicle are on the upper roadway of the bridge but nothing appears to be using the lower roadway. Open boats are on the riverbank in the foreground. An large open lighter and a two-hold cargo vesssel are moored off the bank on the left of the picture. The negative is slightly unsharp.
