On board the Orient Line passenger cruise ship Orontes (1929) at anchor in Oslo Harbour, Norway. The photographer is on the port side of the poop looking forward and to port showing boat number 18 suspended under swung out davits. Two crew members and a number of passengers are on the deck and near the ship's rail. In the left background are the works and floating docks of the Akers Mekaniske Verksted shipyard with ships under repair and fitting out. Beyond the shipyard are the twin towers of the Oslo City Hall surrounded by scaffolding while under construction. The building was commenced in February 1933 and the shell of the building was completed in November 1936. Construction was suspended 1940-1945 and the offices opened in 1947. The building was officially opened 15 May 1950. Akershus Fortress is on the right.
