The motor lifeboat C from the passenger cruise ship Viceroy of India (1929) alongside the Oystese Hotel in the village of Oystese near Norheimsund, off Hardangerfjord, Norway
The Oystese Hotel on the north-east side of the village of Oystese off Hardangerfjord, Norway. The photographer is on a shore excursion from the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company passenger cruise ship Viceroy of India (1929) anchored offshore in Hardangerfjord and her motor lifeboat C is alongside the landing stage in front of the hotel. Many people, including locals in traditional dress, are gathered on the landing stage and are seated in front of the hotel. A line of washing is hanging out to dry on the foreshore. There are patches of snow on the mountains in the background.
