Extensive building works being undertaken in the port of Palermo, Sicily.
Extensive building works being undertaken in the port of Palermo, Sicily. The photographer is looking south-by-west across the harbour showing a new mole being constructed. The Vittorio Veneto Mole has had the outer stone walls completed and work is well under way with the infilling. Most of the stone blocks in the wall facing the photographer have been numbered. Beyond this mole is an area next to the shore that has been walled and partly infilled and a large area has been covered with substantial concrete structures. Three vessels in the background have a five pointed star on their funnels. The harbour is backed by a ring of mountains.
