Seascape from the 'Panaghis M. Hadoulis'

A seascape showing an empty horizon, from the deck of the 'Panaghis M. Hadoulis'. Everett has used form and colour to convey a scene of tranquillity and calm. The image is two thirds sky painted bright yellow, with a bank of cloud on the right. The calm blue sea is tinged with lilac and top lit by the sun with flashes of lemon tinged mauve towards the horizon. Everett sailed in the Greek-owned steamer from Cardiff, Wales, to Montevideo, Uruguay, and back between December 1931 and March 1932. The painting is inscribed 'PMH' verso.
