Shipping in the harbour at Palma, Majorca
Shipping in the harbour at Palma, Majorca. The photographer is looking west-by-south from the north-east quay in the old harbour showing a single masted, gaff rigged sailing vessel alongside the quay in the foreground. She has a full deck cargo of pipes under a tarpaulin and one of the crew is emptying a bucket of water over the stern. A clipper bowed steam or motor yacht is beyond her and on the far side of the adjacent wharf is a ship with the funnel markings of the Islena Maritima S.A. which may be the Rey Jaime I (1911) or the Mallorca (1914). Schooners and a brigantine are in various stages of building or refitting in the Astillero Llompart on the right. In the centre background is the Castell De Bellver on top of a wooded hill and at the waterside to the left of it are the Hotel Mediterraneo and the Hotel Victoria.
