Shipping in Gatun Locks on the Panama Canal.
Shipping in Gatun Locks on the Panama Canal. The photographer is looking south from the east side of the locks showing the Danish reefer Jonna (1933) and the German cargo ship Durazzo (1922) in the east lower chamber with the water at sea level. Passenger/cargo ships are in the east centre and the west centre chambers. All of the ships are heading towards the Atlantic. A number of tourists are on the east side of the lock complex.
