On the water are four large canoes, each with eleven crew comprising a coxswain and ten paddlers. Two of the canoes have all male club crews, one has a French naval crew of seamen in a boat named 'Courage', and the fourth canoe has a female crew although the coxswain may be male. Six 2-man canoes, one single man canoe and one single man inflatable boat are also in the picture.
