The harbour waterfront at Pola, Italy
The harbour waterfront at Pola, Italy. The photographer is looking south-east towards the city from on board the Ellerman Lines passenger cruise ship City of Dover (1907) which is berthed alongside the north side of a quay. Three small steamers and a motor launch are alongside the south side of the quay. A crane is on a small concrete pier and two single masted sailing vessels are berthed alongside the waterfront. There are railway trucks on the quayside. The Pola Arena, a Roman amphitheatre, is in the centre of the picture with the church of St. Anthony by the side of it.
