Quayside view of the Polish barquentine training ship ORP Iskra (1982) & the old roll-on roll-off ferry Tuxedo Princess (1961), moored on the River Tyne during the Cutty Sark Tall Ships Race in July 1993. On the deck of the Iskra two naval officers stand at a gangway to welcome members of the public on board. A third sailor can be working to the left of the officers. The name of the ship is present on a banner attached to the gangway. The old ferry, now a night club, Tuxedo Princess is moored on the other side of the river. Part of the Tyne Bridge, the High Level Bridge and the Swing Bridge can be seen in the background. The photographer appears to have difficulty framing the image as the horizon is not level.
