Lifeboats off the west shore of Palma, Majorca
Lifeboats off the west shore of Palma, Majorca. The photographer is looking west from a passenger cruise ship, possibly an Orient Line ship, anchored off the harbour showing a wooden motor lifeboat No. 2 laden with passengers towing a similarly laden pulling lifeboat towards their ship. In the background the Hotel Mediterraneo and the Hotel Reina Victoria are near the water's edge in the centre of the picture. The bow of a steamship is alongside the quay wall on the left. The Castell De Bellver is on top of the wooded hill in the right background. The negative is very slightly out of focus and has been incorrectly captioned "Port Mahon, going to bathe".
