On board the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company passenger cruise ship Viceroy of India (1929) at Port Said, Egypt. The photographer is on the port side of the poop looking forward and to port while the ship is at anchor near the north end of the canal. Passengers are using a floating pontoon jetty to move between the ship and the shore. The photographer is looking north and the premises of C. Evans & Co., Grindlay & Co. Ltd., Lloyd Triestino, Deutsches Kohlen-Depot S.A. Egyptienne and the Casino Palace Hotel are on the canal side. Advertisements for Beck's Beer, Spend your holidays in the Swiss Alps and Dewar's Whisky are noticeable.
