Bay of Biscay from the 'Ravenspoint'
A sketch made in the Bay of Biscay from the deck of the 'Ravenspoint'. A ship can be seen silhouetted in the distance on the horizon and slightly to the right, with smoke trailing upwards from the stack. The artist has concentrated on the effects of brilliant light shining on the sea and sky. Small dashes of colour indicate the movement of small waves on the surface of the water. One horizontal green band flecked with lilac provides the demarcation point distinguishing the sea from the sky. Everett sailed in the steamer, 'Ravenspoint', from Liverpool to the Mediterranean between January and February 1935. The painting is inscribed 'B of B Ravenspoint' verso.
