The photographer is looking south-by-east showing a variety of steamships, sailing ships, lighters and hulks offshore. In the distance on the extreme right with its bow onshore is the hulk of the 3-masted barque Falstaff (1875) and alongside it is the hulk of the steamship Hipparchus (1867).
