A street scene and the rooftops of Punta Arenas, Chile.

A street scene and the rooftops of Punta Arenas, Chile. The photographer is looking down a wide un-made thoroughfare on the slope of a hill showing other roads crossing it at regular intervals. This part of the town is mainly residential where the majority of the properties have corrugated iron roofs and many also have corrugated iron exterior walls. The streets are unlit and are lined with wooden poles supporting electric wires. The garden of the property on the right has a decorative wooden fence and a ship-style mast with a short gaff and a windvane is behind the fence.
