The monument to Hernando de Magallanes in the Plaza de Armas in Punta Arenas, Chile. This monument is the work of the Chilean sculptor Guillermo Córdoba, was erected in the Plaza de Armas in 1920, and was donated to the city by the tycoon José Menéndez.. The figures on the plinth represent Fuegians including the Ona and Tehuelches people of Patagonia. The figure on the front of the plinth is holding the Spanish and Chilean coats of arms and the figure on the right represent a native of Tierra del Fuego. The tower of the Sacred Heart Cathedral Cathedral (Spanish: Catedral del Sagrado Corazón) is in the right background.
