Looking along Austurstraeti from Laekjargata at Reykjavik, Iceland.
The Austurstraeti from Laekjargata at Reykjavik, Iceland. The photographer is looking west along the Austurstraeti showing a few motor vehicles and a large number of pedestrians. A bank is on the right corner and at the end of the road is Thorvaldsens Bazar. The building on the left corner is occupied by Arni B. Bjornsson. Further down the south side of the road is a building displaying an United States flag, an Apotek (pharmacist) and a Soffiubud outlet. The building with the dome at Austurstræti 16 was built in 1916-1917 and is one of the first buildings designed by Samúelsson, as well as earning the title of being the first large building in Iceland.
