Shipping in Mandraki harbour, Rhodes.
Shipping in Mandraki harbour at Rhodes. The photographer is in the south-east corner of the harbour looking north showing the Agios Nikolaos fortress and lighthouse and three medieval windmills on the Akti Mpoumpouli. Boats are drawn up on the foreshore and some craft are on repair slipways in the foreground. Caiques and 2-masted schooners are berthed on the east side of the harbour. A statue of the Roman she-wolf suckling Romulus and Remus is on a limestone pillar at the end of the east breakwater.
