A port very near broadside view of the Orient Line cruise ship Orion (1935) at anchor off Abbazia, Italy.

A port very near broadside view, taken from only just abaft the beam, of the Orient Line cruise ship Orion (1935) at anchor off Abbazia, Italy, on the northern Adriatic coast. The ship has her starboard anchor deployed, an accommodation ladder is rigged to the main deck aft and ship's boats are alongside it. The Blue Peter flag is flying at the port yardarm on the foremast. The photographer is on a landing stage with the ship's steel lifeboat number 3 alongside waiting to embark passengers wishing to return to the ship. Ship's passengers are waiting on the right to be taken off, together with two Italian policemen (Abbazia was at this time under Italy's control). A dipping lugsail dinghy with I.96 on the sail is on the left of the picture.
