Botafogo Cove from the Urca district at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Botafogo Cove from the Urca district at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The photographer is looking west-by-north from the side of the Morro Da Urca showing the Iate Clube do Rio de Janeiro (Yacht club of Rio de Janiero) to the left of centre, which was established at Urca in 1920. A tree-lined promenade faces the cove and on the left of the picture is the Museu de Ciências da Terra (Museum of Earth Sciences) and the Universidade Do Brasil. On the far side of the cove is the Church of the Immaculate Conception (Imaculada Conceicao), the adjoining College and a modern 12 or 13 storey rectangular block of flats. Mount Corcovado and the statue of Christ the Redeemer is in the left background.
